Pilot selected · development starts Q3 2026

The digital euro wallet is built. Now it needs a bank.

Digital Euro Kit is a working white-label wallet and TSP engine, built against the ECB’s published pilot specifications — DESP integration, DEAN and aliases, holding limits with waterfall, funding, defunding and a certification harness. The missing piece is a partner with regulatory standing: a bank, PSP or e-money institution to pilot it and take it through Eurosystem certification.

The engine

What’s already built

Not slideware — running code, developed against the pilot documentation and validated with a seeded fuzz suite. Everything below exists today.

missing piece: a bank

Wallet and accounts

DEAN account numbers, aliases, access management and the full account lifecycle — onboarding through closure — per the scheme rulebook.

Payments

Transaction initiation and settlement against the DESP APIs, with JWE-encrypted payloads and PSP-hosted payment flows.

Holding limits and liquidity

Waterfall and reverse waterfall against commercial bank money, funding and defunding, and limit enforcement built in from the start.

Compliance and operations

Reserved funds management, fees, dispute handling, reporting and status — the operational plumbing a distributing PSP is accountable for.

Switching and portability

PSP switching as the rulebook prescribes it, so an onboarded user is never locked in — a scheme obligation, handled.

Certification harness

A 35-scenario conformance suite that exercises the whole engine end-to-end and produces an auditable report against the pilot specifications.

The partnership

Who I’m looking for

Software alone cannot distribute the digital euro. The scheme requires an institution with the licence and standing to face the Eurosystem: a bank, a payment service provider or an e-money institution. That institution brings the regulatory shell — the engine brings everything inside it.

  • Pilot the engine

Run the wallet under your licence in the 2027 pilot window, white-labelled under your brand.

  • A head start on the obligation

Euro-area credit institutions will be required to distribute the digital euro. Start from a working engine, not from a blank repository in 2028.

  • Shape the roadmap

The partner decides what gets built next — certification scope, channels, integration with your existing core.

The knowledge base

Written while building it

Everything else on this site — the guide, the glossary, the blog — is the reference I wished existed while implementing the rulebook. It’s free, sourced from ECB primary documents, and kept current.
